The county town of Kirkcudbright is famous for its Castle McLellan pâté, which takes its name from the ruined fortified castle in the town. Kirkcudbright is also known as ‘The Artists’ Town’ due to it being home to a number of painters, embroiderers, photographers and sculptors. In addition, the first stage of the Tour of Britain 2019 cycle race finished in Kirkcudbright.
