Oscar franchisee turns passion for pets into business

OSCAR gave Liz Moreton a business opportunity she could run from home surrounded by her family of dogs

Liz Moreton has been breeding Labradors for a number of years - with five dogs and Lloyd, her ex-racehorse, pets are her life. Before she invested in a franchise with OSCAR, the UK’s largest pet food home delivery service, Liz taught travel and tourism at a local college.

“Too much of the same thing meant it was time for a change and going back to my passion for pets seemed like the obvious thing to do,” Liz explains. “I had heard of the OSCAR products, but I didn’t realise it offered the business opportunity of working from home - until I located their website.”

She adds: “I did not hesitate in committing to OSCAR and related to the product with confidence. The business concept suited me down to the ground and because I love talking to people about their pets I was keen to get started.

“Putting my teaching skills to good use, I began by giving talks at dog shows and puppy training classes - talking has led me to country fairs, extending my presence to horse and school events. The success has brought about return invites, which continue to provide a steady stream of positive leads for me to convert into reliable customers.”

According to Liz, OSCAR has given her everything she wanted, including a new purpose and focus on life. “I work to suit me, my dogs see more of me and there is plenty of time to manage the business administration,” she says. “I’m never alone, as support from head office has been fantastic and along with a super network of franchisees, all ready to help and share ideas, it simply confirms my thoughts that this is truly an excellent business.”

“We wanted to change our lifestyle,” Stuart says. “The long unsociable hours of working in the public transport sector had reached the point of no return for me, resulting in the decision for Teresa and I to build a business together.
