Successful pivot unlocks new trading channels for mobile coffee specialist
Coffee van franchise and mobile cafe provider Cafe2U is reporting record sales, despite the challenges of the pandemic.
The company, whose sales initially plummeted during the first lockdown in 2020, said its strong performance was a result of pivoting the Cafe2U business model to unlock new channels of trade.
The company’s coffee vans began servicing key workers after seeing their regular customers at office locations disappear overnight. This saw significant demand from NHS sites, police, building sites and garages.
Many of its franchisees also started supplying homeworkers via its app, launched last year, which enables users to place an order, track their barista to the door and enjoy a safe and contactless experience.
CEO Martyn Ward says: “The lasting legacy of the impact the coronavirus has had on the coffee-to-go industry will be positive for consumers and small coffee companies alike, with superior quality and growing demand for convenience.”
In addition to record sales, Cafe2U has also recruited 14 new franchisees in the past 12 months.
It currently has over 90 vans in operation in the UK.
