Chapati Man was founded by husband and wife team Chris and Andrea Rai in the UK in 2007. The idea for the mobile catering business came from Chris’ habit of taking his home cooked curry leftovers in a wrap to work with him for lunch.
He described the sale of the master franchise rights for the state of New York as: “A huge statement for the Chapati Man brand and concept.”
Tejas says: “Having been in this city for almost a decade, I know that the on-the-go pace in the city has created an excellent food cart culture year round and I’m proud to be the steward for Chapati Man in New York City.
“Our team knows the importance of local and regional support on all sides of the river. While our first cart is in Manhattan, this undertaking would not be possible without everyone, from our food supply chain in New Jersey to our wrapping designer in Queens. Our first presence in Midtown East will be the first of many locations across all boroughs in NYC.”
