Right at Home has pledged to raise more than £20,000 for the charity across its network of 59 franchised offices in the UK. The two organisations will also work together to share best practice and knowledge of the disease.
There are currently 850,000 people living in the UK with a form of dementia, which could rise to over two million by 2051.
The homecare provider regularly holds Dementia Friends information sessions and is now committed to creating 1,000 new friends within the next 12 months. Dementia Friends is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative that aims to give people a better understanding of what it’s like living with dementia.
Right at Home will be kick-starting its fundraising efforts during Dementia Action Week (May 20-26), before preparing to bake for Cupcake Day on June 13, one of Alzheimer’s Society’s flagship events. The partnership will also see Right at Home staff embarking on a number of activities to raise money for the charity.
Ken Deary, Right at Home UK CEO, says: “As a national provider of homecare services, we are already committed to holding dementia friendly activities for our clients and communities, as well as educating businesses and schools on how best to support those living with dementia.
“Given our knowledge and the specialist care services we offer, it seems the natural step to join forces with a charity that is a great support system for those living with dementia.
“We are excited as a network to work together to reach our fundraising target and continue raising awareness of dementia in the communities where we live and operate.”
