Mike Melling becomes the first franchisee to be appointed to an executive role on the directors' board
As the first TaxAssist Accountants franchisee on the board of TaxAssist Direct Group, Mike Melling will be appointed as group development director, all while still running his own franchises in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.
Mike said: “It is an honour to have been asked to join the board of directors. I was impressed with the comprehensive TaxAssist Accountants franchise package when I first came across the franchise in 2012 and, having significantly exceeded my business and personal goals I set out as a franchisee, I am now looking forward to contributing to the next, exciting stage of the Group’s global development and growth plans.”
Mike praised the work of his franchise teams, giving him time to take the board position without worrying about running his practices. He aims to use his new role to continue with TaxAssist’s “market-leading position” to support small businesses around the world, including with the launch of the company’s new financial services business. Mike will also bring his 10 years of experience as a franchisee to champion and support UK based franchises.
It was in 2012 that Mark joined TaxAssist Accountants after purchasing a resale of its Harpenden and St Albans franchise. After performing well another resale in 2015 saw him expand into High Wycombe and Beaconsfield. With his team of 25 staff from six offices he now helps to support almost 2,000 small businesses, directors and individual clients. Mark is also a director and investor in TaxAssist USA inc and TaxAssist Financial Services.
Group managing director, Daren Moore, was keen to praise the newest board member. He said: “We are very pleased to welcome Mike to the board.
“As a highly successful franchisee who has lived and breathed the brand for the last 10 years, he will be invaluable to both the board and his fellow franchisees, who will be able to benefit from his knowledge and understanding of running a practice. Mike also brings with him extensive international business experience which will be very beneficial as the brand expands globally.”
