School of Rock is taking its innovative music and performance franchise to the next level
You may recognize the School of Rock name from the movie, but the School of Rock franchise has become the most revolutionary music education brand in the world. Originally launched as a single location in Philadelphia in the late nineties, School of Rock has developed into a trademarked brand and global phenomenon. It now operates over 325 after-school music instruction schools which are open in 15 countries, including Canada, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Ireland, Mexico, Paraguay, Portugal, Spain and South Africa, with hundreds more in development.
The company is the recipient of numerous accolades, such as Best Children’s Service and Education Franchise for two consecutive years and the new Regional Champion of the Americas in the Global Franchise Awards 2022. The franchise has also been awarded Top Children’s Music Enrichment Brand in Entrepreneur’s 43rd Annual Franchise 500 for two consecutive years, Top Franchise for 2022 for the fourth time, and was honoured with the gold award for best franchisor in the medium class by Franchise Business Review. The company shows no signs of slowing down.
Innovative curriculum
Innovation has been key to School of Rock’s success, as seen with its core music-education approach, the School of Rock Method, which was awarded a US patent validating it as an exclusive concept and practice. The groundbreaking School of Rock Method builds musical proficiency through its proprietary Method App, Method Book collection, SongFirst approach, Method Engine, and performance-based music curriculum. Unlike traditional music education programs, School of Rock pairs one-on-one instruction with group rehearsals and live performances, teaching students how to perform on stage and with other musicians. School of Rock is proud to have also been awarded the Franchise Update Media 2021 Most Innovative Use of Customer-Facing Digital Tools award in the Products and Services Innovation Awards.
International expansion
With 25 years of experience, School of Rock understands what it takes to succeed as a franchise and has a proven track record. Over the years, it has developed the techniques, the business processes and the franchisee-centric culture that provides a blueprint for success. The concept travels well due to low logistical, technological, and operational complexity. Popular music and child enrichment are universal, and the franchise allows customization to celebrate local popular music while instilling musical proficiency.
School of Rock’s mission statement is to grow a passionate community dedicated to enriching lives through performance-based music education. This parallels the company’s desire to expand even further internationally to continue to diversify its community, with 2023 goals to introduce new master franchisees in the United Kingdom, France, India, and more.
