Scott and Cameron Marlow had always dreamed of owning their own studio and decided that it was high time to turn their dream into a reality, with Edinburgh being the perfect place
Scott Marlow had always had a passion for health and fitness, having worked in the industry for several years before becoming an F45 franchisee alongside his brother and co-owner of F45 Stockbridge, Cameron Marlow.
Cameron owned and operated a football coaching company in his hometown of Ayr, Scotland, which focused on training amateur and professional teams. He also previously had his own successful career as a professional footballer for well-known clubs.
Scott and Cameron were initially introduced to F45 through their other brother, who was involved with the brand in Los Angeles. They tried a few classes and could immediately understand why it was such a fantastic concept. Scott and Cameron had always dreamed of owning their own studio and decided that it was high time to turn their dream into a reality, with Edinburgh being the perfect place.
“Despite some minor obstacles, we found the perfect location to open our studio and could not wait to get going,” said Scott.
Their previous experience in the fitness industry left them feeling well-equipped to open their own studio. Scott was used to ensuring high standards and expectations were met in a large studio space and developed an understanding of how different departments, such as group fitness, personal training, maintenance and front desk, all worked in tandem to make a studio feel like a second home to members and staff. Cameron’s football experience was also crucial as his enthusiasm after years of coaching and experience could be directly transferred into the team training aspect of F45.
“We received fantastic training from F45’s head office and felt supported throughout the entire process, knowing that help was always there if we ever needed it,” said Cameron.
Like all franchisees, they attended an induction week, which helped them get a deeper understanding of the brand and how to make their studio successful. The brothers feel that this support, along with their own passion and motivation to do what they do, is what has helped them open a thriving F45 studio.
“No day is ever the same and we can spend our time doing what we love – helping other people get fit and find their own love for F45,” explained Cameron. “We have been overwhelmed with the response the studio has had on our town, with people thoroughly enjoying the workouts.”
Following the pandemic, Scott and Cameron feel that it is obvious people are desperate to get back into a group training environment and feel part of a community, which is exactly what F45 has created and has contributed to them being at the forefront of the fitness industry.
