The franchise has started exclusively using halal meats across its 20 UK locations, with its Wembley Boxpark branch now being fully halal, including sauces and dressings
Island Poké has always tried to accommodate people of all dietary requirements with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, and the widening of the halal options is a natural next step in the evolution of the menu.
Founder James Porter said: “We’re very excited about the expansion of our halal offering as we believe it’s a natural next step in our mission to provide the public with a healthy lunchtime alternative. Being halal will allow us to welcome in a more diverse range of clientele.”
The brand began in 2016 when James spotted a gap in the market for fresh and healthy lunchtime options that still pack a lot of flavour. Since then, the brand has gone from strength to strength, becoming a popular grab-and-go restaurant chain in London.
Traditionally a Hawaiian dish, poké bowls feature fresh ingredients, usually served on a bed of sushi rice. Made fresh to order every time, menu options at Island Poké include sashimi-grade salmon or tuna, tender chicken thigh and chimichurri steak. Customers can build their own bowls selecting from a range of vegetables such as ginger pickled carrots and salsas. A recent addition to the menu that has proven popular is the Poké Bao, a light and fluffy bao bun perfectly steamed to complement the delicious ingredients, giving customers a fresh, tasty, and easy way to eat their poké.
