Just Cuts Blackburn celebrated its launch in August and is operated by a team of stylists and managed by the UK support office
Just four weeks after international hairdressing franchise, Just Cuts, opened the doors of its first salons in the north of the country, it has been bought by new franchisees. Adding a third location to the growing UK network, Just Cuts Blackburn celebrated its launch in August.
Initially, the new location will be operated by a team of stylists and managed by the UK support office. The fully operational salon is, like those snapped up in Sunderland and Middlesbrough, available for someone to take the reins as a Just Cuts franchise owner. Once David Mathie, UK general manager, finds a suitable candidate, they will join the newest recruits who have taken full advantage of the franchisor’s investment initiative.
“Our Sunderland and Middlesbrough salons were open for just one month when both locations were bought by new franchise owners – whoever takes over this new Blackburn salon will become our seventh UK franchisee,” explained David. “We’re extremely proud of the fact that we’ve been able to maintain our UK expansion during the pandemic.
“Late last year, we devised our new strategy for rapid growth, whereby we obtain key, profitable retail locations before fitting them out and reopening as Just Cuts salons. Prospects then invest in these sites, stepping into a fully-fledged business – sometimes in a matter of days. So far, this strategy has yielded excellent results, with five salon openings since the start of the year. We can’t imagine it will be long before the Blackburn salon is snapped up!”
Clients were welcomed to the new Blackburn salon by a team of stylists, all wearing the necessary PPE to meet Just Cuts’ high standard of COVID-19 security.
“We’re very conscious of the fact that Blackburn has just come out the other side of a localised lockdown so are very much prioritising the health and wellbeing of our stylists and clients,” said Chelsea Arnell, senior stylist at the salon. “To be able to do so effectively, we’ve implemented new policies, like only accepting card payments and fully sterilising stations between each use. We’re also encouraging all of our clients to download and use our app to check-in for a time slot, minimising the need to wait in the salon too. This process went down really well on launch day, with nearly all of our new customers downloading the app before coming in.”
With four salons across the north – and more in the pipeline – David and the UK franchise development team are now concentrating their efforts on bringing their convenient hairstyling services to the south east of the country.
“We’re currently working on renovating salon locations in Southampton, Milton Keynes and Northampton. So far, our growth strategy has seen us focus on Greater London and the north but the demand for the Just Cuts’ salon experience is evident in these busy and highly populated areas. We’re incredibly excited about this new phase of expansion and are looking forward to what the rest of 2020 has in store,” said David.
