Progressive Sports is a national franchise that provides sports coaching for children aged 3 – 13 in schools, community organisations and private events.

Established first in 2006, the company began by offering services around the Midlands and Staffordshire, in schools and other community spaces.

Progressive Sports’ mission is to empower children to gain confidence in learning sports, but also gain greater social skills, improve academic ability, and promote greater health and wellbeing overall.

Since expanding as a franchise, Progressive Sports has won acclaim, and was awarded Best Customer Service and Best New Business in the Annual Franchise Awards in 2016.

Franchisees are also charged a monthly management fee, the price of which will depend on the package taken. You will also need to purchase all equipment and supplies from the brand – these are provided through its network of suppliers to give a competitive price.

The franchise terms must be renewed every five years, but no additional fee is charged after that point.

What experience do you need to start a Progressive Sports franchise?

It’s essential to have a good sense of motivation and drive, in order to approach running a business in a positive and productive way.

If you intend on carrying out the programmes yourself, you will need a minimum qualification of NGB Level 2. All franchisees must also have an Enhanced CRB disclosure before the franchise can be approved.

The programme begins with five-day on-site training at their head office, which covers all you need to know about running a sports franchise, including marketing and sales, recruitment, customer services, and more.

This is topped up with an annual franchise training, carried out each year in the last week of August.

Franchisees from around the country meet at their head office location, for professional development and training courses. The week also offers franchisees an invaluable opportunity to network with others and share best practice advice.

The business also provides business growth days held at the Progressive Sports head office, and carries out regular business visits to a franchisee on-site. Both of these help provide continued support.
