Starship Technologies will further serve five more Northampton-based stores
With Co-op and Starship Technologies extending their partnership, 20,000 more households in Northampton now have access to same-day delivery thanks to Starship’s robots, bringing the total to 80,000 homes.
Since November 2020, the service has offered Northampton residents the option to order on the Starship food app, with local stores acting as distribution hubs, resulting in deliveries arriving in often less than an hour.
Local communities in Blackthorn, Far Cotton, Grange Park, Southfields and Thornton Park will now be able to access on-demand delivery of Co-op groceries from Starship’s robots, which are powered by zero-carbon electricity.
Chris Conway, Co-op’s head of eCommerce, was excited by the system. He said: “Co-op is committed to exploring new and innovative ways to increase access to our products and services. Our members and our customers lead busy lives and ease, speed and convenience are at the heart of our approach. Co-op stores are well placed, close to our customers, to serve shoppers locally. Orders are picked locally, in-store, and a key part of our strategy is to use our physical footprint to also offer same-day, rapid, home deliveries.”
With over 2,000 grocery items available, Northamptonshire residents will be spoilt for choice and with the ability to monitor their delivery in real-time, customers can be sure their order will reach them.
