The Travel Franchise trekked Machu Picchu to raise £10,000+ for The Pink Ribbon Foundation, in honour of franchisee Rachael Coyne
Travel agency franchise, The Travel Franchise, has raise more than £10,000 for breast cancer charity, The Pink Ribbon Foundation, by climbing Machu Picchu in Peru.
The fundraising was carried out by a group of 21 franchisees and corporate team members at the beginning of October.
The 26-mile trek, nicknamed ‘Breast Trek Ever’, reached altitudes of 4,200 metres, and donations were collected in honour of franchisee Rachael Coyne who has beaten multiple types of breast cancer twice.
Laura Simpson, one of the trekkers and head of experience and operations at The Travel Franchise said: “I can’t believe we made it, it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
“There’s been highs and lows along the way with tears and laughter but despite altitude sickness and other aches and pains, we’ve also had an incredible time getting to know each other and our incredible guides who have kept us going.”
The Peru trek is part of a wider brand mission to contribute to charitable causes while working.
The franchise’s customer-facing brand, Not Just Travel, enables franchisees to fundraise for their chosen charity via its Partners in Travel scheme.
Franchisees can partner with a charity and split any commission made from holidays that come via referrals.
For example, Kelly from Aspire Travel raised more than £11,000 from more than 83 holiday bookings via the scheme, with funds going to a local girl with juvenile Batten disease who has lost her vision.
Franchisees can now also contribute to climate, environment, and social initiatives via a new Positive Impact Project.
