Home Instead CEO made MBE in 2023 New Year Honours List

The CEO of Home Instead is honoured to receive the award and is raising awareness for the home care sector

Martin Jones, UK and international chief executive officer for Home Instead, has been made an MBE in the 2023 New Year Honours list for services to older people.

Martin was introduced to the care sector through his father, who needed support due to frailty in old age. Through this experience Martin came to understand the importance of home care and the positive impact it could have on families like his. Shortly after, Martin joined Home Instead, initially as COO in 2011. He went on to be managing director and then CEO, overseeing 245 franchise offices that deliver care to over 16,000 clients.

During his time working in the sector, Martin has been a keen advocate of home care and its role within the health and social care ecosystem. He has championed the role of care workers, helping to attract more people to consider a career in care.

Martin has taken on a number of non-executive and trustee roles which have enabled him to build strong links to the Department of Health and Social Security, Skills for Care and the International Longevity Centre. He is currently the chair of both the Homecare Association and The Care Workers’ Charity, as well as being a member of the Age UK Board. He is also the chair of Home Instead Charities UK.

Speaking about the award, Martin says: “I am proud and humbled to receive this award, particularly as it is for services to older people. Home Instead’s mission is to expand the world’s capacity to care – we want to make the world a better place to age in. For this to become reality, companies like Home Instead, the government and broader society need to ensure that there is the infrastructure, resource and, importantly, people in place. The integration of health and social care is critical, as is a mindset where old age is celebrated and revered.”
