Having reached the 100-gym landmark across the UK and Ireland, the gym franchise is seeking to assert itself as a stand-out choice in the mid-market
Leading gym franchise Snap Fitness has launched a series of new signature group exercise classes designed to further enhance the experience it provides its members.
The launch of the classes is a key part of Snap Fitness’ future strategy to assert its position as a leading gym provider in the UK and Ireland and establish a key point of difference in the market.
The four signature classes, unique to Snap Fitness, have the overarching name of S7 and are 30- to 45-minute full-body workouts that incorporate all seven of the body’s primal movements: hinge, squat, lunge, push, pull, twist, and gait.
S7 Strong, S7 Speed, S7 Sweat and S7 Strike promise to provide the ultimate total body workout and improve range of motion by using every muscle group in one session.
Data shows that group exercise participants are 26% less likely to cancel their membership, proving a strong offering is a key to retaining members. In addition, 29% of group exercise participants were previously inactive, showing that a strong group exercise offering is important in attracting hard-to-reach audiences into gyms.
The programmes will initially be available as instructor-led classes within Snap Fitness gyms before launching to members via on-demand video through the Snap App.
“These unique, in-gym signature programmes bring experience-led workouts into the 24/7 gym sector,” said Andy Carr, fitness experience manager at Snap Fitness UK & Ireland. “It means our members can enjoy the same type of workouts they’d find in boutique studios, without leaving their local gym or paying premium prices. We want these classes to stimulate all the senses and have created bespoke music playlists, as well as how we use our lighting to enhance the experience.
“Training in a group environment holds great significance in the member experience, helping build confidence and connection. Research shows that participants who exercise in groups tend to have greater loyalty and remain members for longer. These developments represent the first step in a pivotal development for Snap Fitness in the UK & Ireland and will play a major role in shaping the future design and layout of our locations.”
The signature programmes have been developed in conjunction with fitness programming expert Dean Hodgkin. Dean has been at the forefront of innovation for fitness programming for over 20 years, delivering education and seminars to fitness instructors in more than 30 countries.
