Franchise experts launch new brand – Rise

The business will offer a range of activities for the health and social care sectors based on adapted games, sports and dance

Trevor Brocklebank and Rob Oyston have launched a new franchise brand, Rise. The company has announced its first pilot territory in Cardiff this month.

Rise offers a range of activities for the health and social care sectors based on adapted games, sports and dance. These activities are tailored to people’s physical ability or cognitive capacity to bring health and wellbeing benefits.

Trevor is, of course, responsible for bringing Home Instead to the UK when he became the UK master franchisor in 2005 alongside his wife, Sam. He went on to chair the British Franchise Association and the Homecare Association.

The couple exited the business in 2016 when they sold the franchise back to the US owners.

Rob was managing director of Sports Xtra and met Trevor via the bfa as Rob was a regional chair and then associate board member. He went on to found Mobi-Game, the forerunner to Rise, with a view to scaling the business.

The pair decided to pool their business and franchise expertise and Rise was born, based on the original Mobi-Game concept with a combined vision to create a business that gives back with services being offered to help people to keep mobile, engage in social activities and enjoy a sense of achievement.

Trevor said: “I want to create businesses that make a difference. There is enormous potential for Rise to do this and I’ve already seen first-hand the impact that sports-based activities can have on people of all abilities.

“The model is ideal for a franchise roll-out as local owners can position themselves as the go-to expert for these enriching activities that bring benefits to both participants, their carers and families too.

Speaking about recent projects, Rob said: “We ran a session at a children’s hospice recently where the children were supported to kick balloons, emulating a game of football. Carers were able to join in, providing wellbeing benefits to both the carers and children.

“In the future, siblings and parents will be able to join in, bringing the family together with a shared, multi-generational experience.

“And to see a group of care home residents taking part in a tennis match is just brilliant.”

Rise was formally launched at the International Franchise Show earlier this month.
