After several years supporting community-based franchises in the homecare sector, Naz Sen felt his experience and ambition aligned perfectly with Mathnasium’s service and growth trajectory
Following over 50 per cent growth in network turnover during 2021, and with three new centres opening in the next month and a half, Naz Sen has been appointed to the new role of franchise support manager as Mathnasium develops into a nationwide leader in maths education in 2022.
After several years supporting community-based franchises in the homecare sector, Naz felt his experience and ambition aligned perfectly with Mathnasium’s service and growth trajectory.
“I worked in a small care franchise and then moved to a much larger one with more than 50 franchisees,” he said. “I joined as onboarding manager for new franchisees, and then became the operations manager. It was a fantastic team of people and franchisees.
“But I’d always worked in the care sector and I wanted to take my skills into something different. Mathnasium is similar in that it’s a community service that makes a huge difference to families, and that’s where my passion lies.”
Having completed his training programme – the same one all new franchisees go through – Naz has been visiting each of the centres to get to know the owners and share his experience and advice.
“The franchisees are fantastic,” said Naz. “We’ve had discussions on where they are now, where they want to take their business, and how we’re going to help them get there.
“Everyone’s really engaged with the brand, really excited about where we’re going together. They’ve all been so open, asking me questions and telling me about their business. It’s a very open, inclusive environment, which is really refreshing.
“I love what they do. I love all the advantages that they have in business. And I especially love the bespoke aspect of the tuition.”
Naz’s responsibilities include helping new franchisees get off to a fast start, and supporting existing franchisees to take their business to the next level. He says he’s relishing the challenge.
“Mathnasium is a huge brand internationally, nevertheless in the UK, we are just starting to develop the market,” Naz explained. “I’m excited about what I can bring to the table, and what Mathnasium already has in place. This is a hugely exciting time to join the business.”
Mathnasium’s UK director, John Preston, says that between Naz joining and the market demand for tuition, the year ahead promises a great deal for franchisees.
He said: “Naz has joined at the perfect time, with three new centres opening in the next month and a half, several more in the planning process due to open in H1 2022, as well as a strong pipeline for H2 2022. We’re seeing such strong demand after all the pandemic interruptions in education, so his experience is going to be crucial in helping franchisees manage their growth. He’s already having a big impact in that regard and building a great rapport with franchise owners.
“We’ve got the right support team in place to help us reach the next stage of our development as Mathnasium scales across the country.”
