Greg Milne, COO of Soul Foods Group and loyal customer of Leaflet Delivery UK, speaks about his positive experiences working with the business
Leaflet Delivery UK is the simple leaflet delivery management franchise where Royal Mail does the delivery. But there is much more to it than that, as Andrew Wareing, managing director, explains: “This is an amazingly simple business, with our model being honed over the previous 20- plus years. We look after all of the production – design, print and delivery – and systems, so our franchisees can concentrate on the key task of getting and keeping customers.
Where did you work before Soul Foods group?
I was an area manager for Equity KFC from 1999 to 2002, then worked in the Franchise team as a franchise business manager supporting KFC franchisees from 2002 to 2005 and then moved to become operations director for SFG in 2005. In 2011, I moved to Canada to run the operations in our business over there, returning to the UK in 2018.
How many sites do you currently have?
Across the UK we have 88 Starbucks, 66 KFCs, and one Taco Bell. In Canada, we have 235 KFCs and Taco Bell locations. That’s a total of 390 stores – and we are still expanding!
How did you first hear about Andrew Wareing and Leaflet Delivery UK?
We came across Andrew in 2002 after we took over a group of restaurants around the Preston area that used his leaflet delivery company to drive repeat business.
Do you think many businesses are aware of the leaflet delivery services offered by Royal Mail?
I’m not sure that they do despite the many items that come through my letterbox at home!
How would you rate the service offered by Leaflet Delivery UK?
Very good and effective.
You have used both the shared mailing (in a package) and the individual (single leaflet) mailing. Do you like them both?
I used to prefer the package drops as these were more likely to be kept and used by the customer.
Have you had success using either of the above mailings?
The package drops were highly successful, driving repeat customer visits, which is what these are specifically designed to achieve.
Are you able to give a comparison in results between Leaflet Delivery UK’s Royal Mail-based drops and other local leaflet drops?
The Royal Mail-based drops have been our consistent top-performers. We have seen redemption rates of 9-10 per cent compared to 1-2 per cent with other leaflet delivery companies.
Do you think Leaflet Delivery UK’s products represent good value for money?
Yes, absolutely.
Do you have any comments for anyone considering taking a Leaflet Delivery UK franchise?
It’s a good opportunity to build your own business but the real benefit is the connection between the franchisee and the customer, that is the important thing to remember. It’s not just about growing your own business; it’s about partnering to grow both.
