About Rush Hair & Beauty

Rush is a national hair and beauty brand dedicated to providing the highest level of professional hair care to clients through exceptional service and technical excellence.

The company is passionate about making its clients feel special. Rush offers a wide selection of quality services in its salons. Healthier, fuller-looking hair can be achieved through its strengthening treatments, as well as hair extension services, too.

The first Rush hair salon opened its doors in 1994 and the business now has 97 salons operating nationwide serving 12,000 clients every week.

Rush has won over 50 different hairdressing awards.

When was the Rush Hair & Beauty franchise started and why?

The business was co-founded by Andy Phouli and Stelios ‘Stell’ Andrews, who opened their first salon in Wimbledon in 1994. “Our goal was to help clients make the most of their hair, with modern, bespoke hairstyles,” says co-founder Stell Andrews. “When I think back to the ‘90s, it’s incredible how much treatments, techniques and trends have changed. Back then everyone wanted the ‘Rachel from Friends’ layers or a Baby Spice fringe. But over the years, our ethos has remained the same – we want you to leave looking and feeling fabulous.”

The Rush name came from the back page of a newspaper, says Stell. The heading caught his eye: “Being the buzz word of the nineties party scene, it seemed fitting that this name was right for us. Our greatest achievement in business is building a brand from scratch and working hand in hand against all the odds. Today we are very proud of what the Rush brand has become.”

How does the Rush Hair & Beauty franchise model work?

With the Rush brand behind you, franchisees are following a tried-and-tested format.

At Rush, franchising with the right partner is essential to how the business is run. The founders believe that Rush is the spark of something different, something special and unique. Rush has a proven business framework that has created a chain of successful Rush franchised salons. A franchise with Rush will enable you to invest in a highly successful brand that has been built from the trust of its customers.

The minimum personal investment in the franchise is £15,000, while the total investment will be an estimated £165,000. A Management Service Fee will be charged at 10 per cent of turnover, excluding VAT.

What support and training does the Rush Hair & Beauty franchise offer?

Rush Hair has a structured process put in place to ensure it is the right option for you. Its process includes training in all aspects of running a successful hairdressing salon. The typical time between enquiring and opening your Rush salon will be six months.

Your journey to becoming a franchisee begins with creating a bespoke business plan and finding a suitable location. You will also gain valuable hands on experience in a salon and in our in-house academy training facilities. Training is offered in all departments, including marketing, operations, HR and finance. You will also learn about the Rush Hair call centre, to give you an understanding of all the processes within the company.

Once a suitable location is found, shop fitting, recruitment, training and marketing campaigns can begin. As a guide, the cost of a salon can typically range between £150,000 and £165,000. You will need to provide a minimum personal investment of £15,000.

The Rush hair industry experts and franchise team will provide you with a wealth of experience and the support to ensure that your salon becomes a success. The Rush Hair franchise team is also there to ensure that the opening of your salon is as easy as can be. In addition to the franchise team, Rush Hair will provide you with ongoing support from its dedicated operations, marketing, HR, education and finance teams.

Its marketing team will provide monthly group-wide collateral to ensure your salon has the best advertising and marketing to attract new customers. Before your salon’s launch, the marketing team works hard to drive customers to your salon to get you on track to growing your clientele and business.

The Rush Hair & Beauty franchise team will support you once your salon has opened. Your dedicated support team will provide you with monthly marketing campaigns to ensure your business thrives continuously, month on month. Rush is more than just a business. It has created a family – a family who are here to help, guide and support you every step of the way.

What are the potential returns from a Rush Hair & Beauty franchise?

The Rush franchise programme is a partnership of mutual interests. The franchise process is an established, tried-and-tested model. Our philosophy is to perfectly balance the creative and commercial needs to ensure you salon thrives.

On average, a Rush Hair & Beauty franchisee typically sees a return on investment over two to three years. Salons can build to over £1m in revenue, but this is not guaranteed; it is totally down to you.

Rush Hair is happy for its franchisees to set up their franchise in their own property – whether it is a property they own or one they have found themselves – and franchisees can open more than one salon, depending on performance.

What beauty services does Rush Hair & Beauty provide?

Rush will take good care of you in many different ways:

Facials: “Revive and restore your skin to its natural luminous glory.”

Body treatments: “Feel your tension melt into ultimate relaxation with a head, back or full body massage.”

Hands and Feet: “Stay looking polished from head to toe with an indulgent manicure and pedicure.”

Eyebrows and Lashes: “Transform your brows and lashes with the perfect shape and definition.”

Skin rejuvenation: “Treat sun-damaged skin, acne scars, thread veins, freckles on the face, neck, chest and hands, plus more, with this Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatment.”

Hair removal: “Say goodbye to unwanted hair.”

What are the Rush Hair & Beauty franchise’s long-term goals?

Rush Hair is looking to grow the brand further, with exciting opportunities to franchise one of their new salon locations. Rush currently covers London and the South East, and is looking to expand across the UK and overseas.

There are immediate opportunities in high profile locations across London and the UK

What are Rush Hair & Beauty franchise’s terms of agreement and renewal?

A Rush franchise lasts for five years and, subject to agreed performance schedules being met within that period, can be extended for a further five years.

How in-demand are hairdressing businesses right now?

The UK beauty industry is estimated to be worth £6.2bn worldwide annually, with hair salons generating 77 per cent if that revenue.

It is estimated that the hair & beauty industry will grow by 2 per cent annually between 2010 and 2015.

A customer will visit a salon every six weeks for a cut, and every 10 weeks for a colour - we spend on average £460 a year on shampoo, conditioner and styling products. As Rush notes, hair does not stop growing in a recession.
