Joscocare is a fast growing healthcare business that’s offering franchisees the chance to benefit from three tried and tested revenue streams
Jos’ dream of becoming his own boss became a reality in 2013, when he founded Joscocare, a care and nursing agency that supplies temporary staff to the healthcare sector.
Today the business has three offices and over 200 employees and contractors. It’s also opening branches in Slough and Liverpool.
Commitment to quality
Jos explains: “Why did I decide to start a healthcare staffing agency? I couldn’t find any other recession proof business in a market that had as much potential as the healthcare sector.
“My wife agreed to shoulder the family responsibilities, which allowed me to channel all my energy into the business.”
Jos’ hard work, dedication, commitment to quality, reliability and determination soon began to yield results.
Now the Managing Director of the company, he says: “Joscocare has come a long way. Apart from the determination and focus, the continued success of the business is due to the dedication and commitment of our employees and the trust of our clients.”
Joscocare’s commitment to quality and transparency is underpinned by its membership of The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC).
As well as developing permanent recruitment solutions and domiciliary care services together with the agency staff provision, Jos is in the process of recruiting franchisees so he can roll out the business across the UK.
For an initial franchise fee of £19,500 (for the first four franchisees only), Joscocare will grant a licence to own and operate a franchise in a dedicated territory.
That territory will be well researched and contain sufficient care establishments to ensure the business can be profitable and eventually utilise all three Joscocare offerings and revenue streams.

“Experience tells us that as few as 10 good clients can produce 3,000 hours worth of business per week,” Jos says.
“You will be given detailed demographic information for your territory, highlighting all the hospitals, care homes, nursing homes and other potential clients.”
Role of the franchisee
Experience in care or nursing, either as a business owner or senior manager, would be an advantage, but not essential at all.
A franchisee’s role is to recruit temporary workers, establish links with care providers in their area and ensure they fill the targeted number of hours a week.
To start with, franchisees offer temporary care and nursing agency staff to the healthcare industry, including private hospitals, NHS Trusts, care homes and mental health units.
This strategy, Jos says, is the most effective way of establishing the Joscocare business and requires the least amount of capital.
He adds: “Once the business has been established and is profitable, the franchisee will have the resources and experience to introduce the second revenue stream - permanent recruitment services.
“Once these two revenue streams are established, they can then add domiciliary care to their offering.”
Those who have the drive and ambition to go further can take on further territories and duplicate their success. Some selected franchisees may also have the opportunity to own master franchises.
Living longer
According to Age UK, there are 11.4 million people over the age of 65 in the UK, of which 1.5 million are over 85. There are also a significant number of vulnerable adults and children who require care.
As a result, the country’s care need is increasing every year, due to increasing life expectancy and a number of other factors.
The government is overhauling the way care is delivered and, coupled with the need for people to fit their work around their family and other commitments, is seeing more people deciding to work independently or through an agency.
This makes recruitment of permanent staff more difficult for healthcare providers, who are increasingly relying on agency supply from companies such as Joscocare to deliver these services.
