Southern Fried Chicken has opened its latest UK high street location

Southern Fried Chicken, one of the UK’s most successful franchising companies, which has stores in 24 countries and in locations as diverse as Malta and Mongolia, has announced the company’s latest UK opening in Clacton-on-Sea.

Chairman Andrew Withers says: “The brand originated in the UK, so it’s exciting for us to begin our journey back home with this new location in Clacton.”

Despite and possibly because of all the difficulties with COVID, Brexit, etc, Southern Fried Chicken has continued to grow.

Recent store openings include two in Russia, one in Paris and finally Clacton-on-Sea. More stores are scheduled for opening in Q1 2022 in Asia, Europe and the UK.

The husband and wife franchise team at Clacton-on-Sea first met Southern Fried Chicken’s franchise development executive, Sadaf Kazi, in January 2021 and just a few months later work started on their high street location.

The company’s project team got to work, laying out the kitchen and creating visuals for the shopfitter to work to, before providing a fully costed plan for the franchisee to work with to open their first store.

With a deal for three stores signed, rapid progress was made for the opening of the first location.

In June Southern Fried Chicken delivered and installed the specialised preparation, cooking and hot holding equipment specifically designed and manufactured for this type of business by partner company, Vizu.

Manufactured in Southern Fried Chicken’s factory in Reading, the equipment has been developed, at every step, with Southern Fried Chicken in mind and has proven to be reliable and long-lasting in Southern Fried Chicken restaurants around the globe.

Following several weeks of onsite training from Southern Fried Chicken operations manager Mahesh Patel, the store opened for business in July and after some settling in the grand opening took place in August.

In a conversation on the day with Andrew Withers, the franchisees explained how happy they were with their decision to go into partnership with Southern Fried Chicken.

They also complimented the team on the great support they had received and spoke about how positively Southern Fried Chicken had been received by their customers, with over 97 per cent positive reviews online.

The couple is working on opening several more stores in and around London.
