Rachel Evans, franchise and marketing manager at Jackson Fire & Security, on what the brand looks for in a franchisee, how the market is growing, and more
What makes a Jackson Fire & Security franchise a good investment?
The resilient industry that we belong to has become even more evident in the last two years with a global pandemic to contend with. All commercial premises need regular fire safety equipment servicing by law and that means our services will always be in demand. Property managers are also becoming increasingly concerned about protecting their site with security equipment, so this is a growing market for us.
Does a franchisee require fire safety or security experience to become a business owner?
No previous fire safety or security experience is required to become a franchise owner with Jackson Fire & Security. We train our franchisees in all elements of running the Jackson franchise including industry-accredited training, sales support, project management, operations, our software systems, marketing and tendering for large contracts. We do expect a franchisee to have some managerial experience but the attitude of the franchisee is much more important to us – they need to demonstrate high levels of enthusiasm, motivation and a general can-do approach.
What does a typical day in the life of a Jackson franchisee involve?
Every day is vastly different and I think that’s the most enjoyable element of being a Jackson franchisee. We work in a wide range of different sectors including education, retail, social housing, manufacturing, hospitality – and that’s just to name a few! Our franchisees enjoy meeting and working with customers from all walks of life. We also offer a wide range of solutions within fire and security so there is always something new for our franchisees to get stuck into and we never stop learning.
What support does Jackson provide franchisees with when they first join?
We start by providing our franchisees with a comprehensive training course including industry-accredited courses to become a qualified fire and security manager within the industry. This complements a package of industry accreditations that our franchisees can operate under from day one. This means as a local franchisee, they can bid for larger projects and tenders that would have otherwise been unattainable and demonstrate the highest levels of competency within a compliance-driven industry.
We also provide a bespoke marketing launch campaign including a range of proven and tested online and offline marketing campaigns to generate new leads from day one. On-going support is provided with a call-answering service, technical support helpline, credit control provided by our head office accounts team and much more!
What kind of financial return can franchisees expect?
If the franchisee is willing to work hard and has the drive to succeed, the potential revenues of a Jackson Fire & Security franchise can be very lucrative and profitable. Our model is driven by the number of engineers a franchisee has operating in their territory with a sales support team. Having this team in place, franchisees can achieve sales of over £300,000 by year two.
