Daisy First Aid: Life Saver

Daisy First Aid: Life Saver

Daisy First Aid offers fun and fear-free first aid classes designed specifically for parents and child carers

Jenni Dunman is founder and CEO of award winning franchise Daisy First Aid. Jenni, from Surrey, is a 36-year-old businesswoman and mother of three.

Prior to launching her business, she was a police officer in London and experienced a vast number of first aid emergencies, including treating casualties at Edgware Road tube station during its bombing in 2005.

TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE

In 2014 Jenni had a terrifying experience when she successfully treated a friend’s baby daughter during a choking incident. Jenni realised then that first aid was not something regularly offered to new parents and that many parents didn’t have basic first aid skills that could so easily save a child’s life.

When researching suitable training, she found that parents were restricted to longer certified classes aimed at the corporate market that often showed frightening videos and told distressing stories. Jenni wanted to educate parents in a way that made them feel happy, confident and empowered, rather than terrified and intimidated.

She has grown her business from table top to a multi-award winning company in two years. Jenni is now considered a paediatric first aid expert and has featured in numerous publications. She also volunteers her time at many national charity events.

Daisy First Aid offers fun and fear-free first aid classes designed specifically for parents and child carers. In a two-hour class, which takes place in the attendee’s home or at a local venue, the world of emergency first aid unfolds, as parents, grandparents and care givers interact and learn the skills they need to save a life and treat the most common accidents and emergencies. Babies are welcome in these classes too.

For those who work with children, Daisy First Aid provides certified paediatric first aid courses and also runs interactive classes for primary and secondary school pupils.

Parents learn how to treat an unconscious baby and child, practice the recovery positions and how to perform CPR. They also learn how to treat choking, burns, bleeding, broken bones, head injuries, poisoning and identify serious conditions such as anaphylaxis and meningitis.

Daisy First Aid is a successful franchise business where franchisees purchase their own exclusive territory in which to provide their classes. With Daisy trainers given the flexibility to choose when to book classes, the concept has become popular with mums looking to earn a good wage while fitting in the school run and managing a successful, meaningful and ethical business. Classes are held seven days a week, including evenings, to accommodate both the customer and trainer’s busy lives.

Currently there are 30 Daisy First Aid franchisees across the country and a rapidly growing Daisy First Aid merchandise company. All franchisees are women, which led to Jenni winning the Encouraging Women into Franchising award for New Woman Franchisor of the Year 2016.

Jenni hopes to achieve a more even balance by recruiting male trainers to the franchise network.

LOW RISK

With a franchise fee from £5,995, Daisy First Aid is a low risk option for those looking to earn full-time wages within six-12 months.

Two-hour classes are priced at £25 per person and Daisy First Aid runs them for a minimum of four people and maximum of 20. So without including merchandise sales, a franchisee can earn between £100 and £500 in two hours.

Daisy First Aid offers excellent training and support. Training covers everything from first aid certification and how to deliver classes, to how to run and market the business. Ongoing help and guidance is available whenever it’s needed.

The company has partnered with retail giants Mothercare and NCT and continues to be the popular choice with new parents, teachers, children’s centres, schools, supermarkets, childminders, nannies and anyone looking for a first aid class run by bright, happy, passionate trainers in a comfortable environment.
