Patrick Hester, Meyers’ franchisee for Ringwood and Verwood has pledged to donate £100 from every property sale completion in the BH31 postcode for a whole year
The Verwood Wellbeing Support Group is part of Dorset Mind, a pioneering local charity that educates, challenges mental health stigma and inequality, and promotes recovery by empowering individuals to develop resilience. Support groups, counselling and accredited befriending services help people regain social skills.
The Verwood Wellbeing Group is held on the first and third Tuesday of every month from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm at Verwood Community Resource Centre, Jenner Close, Verwood, BH31 7QE.
Meyers Ringwood and Verwood franchisee, Patrick Hester, explains: “As estate agents, we work in the heart of our community and at Meyers we have raised money for numerous local charities over the years, aiming to give something back to those that support us. Mental health issues affect so many people – including people close to me and the isolation following COVID has exacerbated the issue. It’s time to become more aware of mental health by getting people talking. The Dorset Mind Verwood Wellbeing Support Group does just that by helping individuals connect and relate.
“As well as donating money on a regular basis to support this worthy cause, I’m also looking forward to getting involved in projects such as the Move Your Mind campaign, where people are asked to sign up to fundraise and increase their fitness attempts by doing extra steps or at least half an hour of physical activity a day for a full month. We are looking at doing a walking event in January in the area and are aiming to complete other fundraising activities later in the year.”
Marianne Storey, CEO, Dorset Mind confirms: “We’re delighted to welcome another branch of Meyers Estates to our stable of valued charity partners. It’s important for us to work with local organisations that share our vision and want to visibly help us support mental health of people in Dorset. It not only helps create awareness of mental wellbeing but also tackles the stigma around it too.
“We’re particularly excited to work with Patrick and his team, who have kindly agreed to help us fund our twice-monthly Verwood Wellbeing Group with their donations and upcoming initiatives. The group is currently ‘unfunded,’ which means our own fundraising covers all costs - so the awareness and vital funds that our partnership will create will help secure the future of this group support for adults.”
