New recruit, Wanice Lau, will be supporting families across Stockport while husband and wife team, Iris and Joey Yeung will be running Tutor Doctor Camden
During lockdown and school closures, brands and business opportunities in the education sector have been thrust further into the limelight. The demand for Tutor Doctor’s services, and its franchise opportunity, has seen the global tutoring giant continue to thrive. In May, two new franchises were welcomed into the UK network and both are set to make an impressive start.
“It’s no surprise that entrepreneurs looking for a robust and worthwhile business opportunity have continued to flock to the education space over the last few months,” says Frank Milner, Tutor Doctor president. “Customers need our support all year round but during this time, we’ve seen an increase of 120 per cent in demand for online tuition services. Our mission is to change the lives of students by helping them to achieve their potential – that means we take a holistic approach to learning which focusses on building confidence, self -esteem and valuable life skills as well as making academic advances. It’s incredibly rewarding to see those things having a real impact on children and their families as we navigate these challenging times together.”
There are now 76 Tutor Doctor franchisees in the UK who operate 149 territories between them. New recruit, Wanice Lau, will be supporting families across Stockport. A former teacher, Wanice spent three years running a private tuition company in Hong Kong before relocating to the UK. Passionate about supporting the families in her local community, she’s looking forward to a flying start with Tutor Doctor’s online tuition services already in high demand.
“I’ve always been passionate about education but to have the freedom and control of running my own business in this industry is very exciting,” says Wanice. “Having the infrastructure and support from Tutor Doctor head office was one of the main things that attracted me to the opportunity and franchising in general. I’m really looking forward to meeting the challenge of business ownership head-on! Whilst it’s very early days for my business, there’s no denying that online tutoring is experiencing a huge surge in demand, it’s something that we’re already seeing and I’m going to be making the most of, long after the restrictions ease.”
Wanice’s fellow new recruits are husband and wife team, Iris and Joey Yeung. The pair freely admit that they have no prior knowledge or experience running a business and that’s exactly why they chose Tutor Doctor!
“I’ve always wanted to be my own boss but we had no idea about running a business, let alone starting one from scratch!” says Iris. “After doing lots of research, I came across the concept of franchising which was the perfect solution. We quickly found Tutor Doctor, and everything fell into place. Here was a clear business model for success with tons of support provided along the way. What’s more, the level of collaboration and knowledge in the network was inspiring. The experience so far has been amazing. Even the training – I was a little worried about it being virtual but it was very smooth and efficient, and we got so much from it. I can’t wait to get going!
“In the short term, we’re going to be very busy bringing our online services to families during the ongoing pandemic. Demand is high as parents and students alike are keen to improve and preserve learning. In the long run, our aim is to be the go-to tutoring service in the area. When people think of tutoring for their children, Tutor Doctor Camden will be the number one choice!”
The continued growth of Tutor Doctor’s worldwide network is testament to two key things: firstly, the ongoing demand for quality, personalised and empathetic tuition delivered directly into the home. Tutor Doctor’s reputation as a leading provider of supplementary education stands both the franchise network and the opportunity front and centre in the minds of customers and prospects alike. Secondly, the brand’s ability to pivot its services online overnight clearly demonstrated the business’ agility and considerable investment into its bespoke systems and processes – not least of which, its award-winning online tuition platform.
Already operating in 16 countries, June sees the launch of Tutor Doctor Cape Town, South Africa, another exciting milestone for the brand.
