The home care franchise won the Revolutionary Franchise category for 2023
Walfinch home care’s team are celebrating following being named as winners of the Revolutionary Franchise category at the inaugural Disruptive Franchise Awards 2023.
The Disruptive Franchise Awards were organised by Jo Middleton, founder of Franchise Business School and the awards ceremony took place at The Oxfordshire Hotel in Thame, on 13 June 2023.
The awards were founded to recognise franchisors, brands and franchisees who had positively disrupted the UK franchise industry either by offering a new approach, strategy, product or service.
Amrit Dhaliwal, CEO of Walfinch, commented: “We are honoured to be named as the revolutionary franchise of the year! As an ex franchisee myself, I understand the challenges in the sector, and I’ve been keen to develop a business which revolutionises both care and franchising.
“Walfinch now leads change: we believe our franchisees’ teams of carers must be treated as the skilled professionals they are, with appropriate wages, greater work/life flexibility, a focus on continued professional development, and presented with clear career opportunities and pathways.
“By achieving this, we attract and retain the best carers who feel valued and want to invest their time and energies on building a life-long career and give greater confidence to those needing to access home care services,” Amrit said.
One thing which makes Walfinch stand out is its use of technology. For example, it uses AI to help generate blog article ideas which is great for SEO and boosts its franchisees’ Google rankings. It also encourages franchisees to use AI to help generate interview questions and job descriptions.
“Although not used verbatim, it helps get the ball rolling,” Amrit said.
In addition, Walfich’s senior team also works hard to support its franchisees and their own teams of carers provide the best services possible to people in their own homes.
“Our innovative and caring approach includes the need for all our franchisees, staff and carers to pass the ‘mum test’. This is more important that qualifications or experience and where we only hire people or take on franchisees that we’d like to look after our own mums,” said Amrit.
“Fun is also not normally discussed in the care sector! We believe we must all have fun at work and enjoy what we do – a happy team means we deliver better care services. This in addition to our extensive charity and community engagement has all now been recognised and we are very proud of this award win,” he said.
