The fast-casual brand will be the official kebab partner for Wireless festival until 2023
German Doner Kebab and Wireless festival have entered a three-year brand partnership which kicked off last month at London’s iconic Crystal Palace Park with over 40,000 fans. The fast-casual brand proved to be a headline act at the star-studded festival and will be the official kebab partner for Wireless until 2023.
The new partnership is the first of its kind for German Doner Kebab as it ramps up its brand visibility strategy as it continues its rapid UK expansion.
To celebrate the new brand partnership German Doner Kebab purpose-built an impressive 40-foot container restaurant for the festival which weighed 10 tonnes and took five weeks to build. The container featured an in-built freezer, running water and a full-service kitchen with five grillers, and even has its own VIP roof terrace for special guests. To create a seamless service experience, the brand installed six self-service order kiosks, which took up to 12 orders per minute.
To mark the first year of the collaboration German Doner Kebab also created an exclusive Wireless Boss Box which was on sale throughout its UK restaurants. The Boss Box featured a QR code that led customers to a gamification page where they could win a host of prizes, including free GDK food items and discount codes and was entered by over 89,000 people.
During the festival German Doner Kebab hosted the container within the brand zone in the festival, providing a high-visibility platform to engage with music fans, featuring food, drinks and GDK’s very own festival fashion ‘Drip Awards’ presented by Love Island favourite Josh Denzel.
With fashion being a key part of the festival experience, Josh scouted and handed out nine awards to the best-dressed festival-goers throughout the music weekend.
Throughout the weekend German Doner Kebab served thousands of its iconic Boss Box, a generous meal for one featuring the Original German Doner Kebab, Doner Spring Rolls, Fries and a Drink, as well as its signature Doner Boxes which all proved to be a hit with the music fans.
Wireless is one of the country’s most loved music festivals, firmly rooted in hip hop, grime and R&B influenced sounds, representing forward-thinking artists from both the UK and the USA.
The brand has recently confirmed its position as the UK’s fastest-growing restaurant chain after announcing that it will open 47 new restaurants in the UK during 2021. Daniel Bunce, GDK MD for UK and Europe, said: “Wireless is an iconic festival that features amazing artists who are disrupting the music scene in the UK and US.
“As one of the country’s fastest-growing food brands that has revolutionised the kebab across the globe, we see great synergies with Wireless and so it proved as we launched our brand partnership at the festival in September.
“This has been a major strategic collaboration for us and the festival at Crystal Palace gave us a stand-out platform to engage with festival-goers. We are now very much looking forward to building on the partnership with Wireless in the coming years as we forge ahead with creating the fast-casual brand of the future.”
